Scorch Trials: 3rd week

AS you know, I am reading The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. Last week, a lot of stuff happened, but this week, even more did. After a few days in the room apartment place, and the gladers ran out of food. They then, find a bathroom and drink water, almost everyday. After a few more days, the gladers find food in one of the other rooms. They also find a man, in a suit, behind an invisible wall. After a few hours, the man speaks and says that they are apart of stage 2 of the trials. The first stage was the Maze and the second, is the Scorch Trials. He says that the next morning, at 6am the gladers have to get ready and go through this thing called a Flat Train. He says that they have to go fast because whoever isn't in the Flat Train by 6:05am, will be executed. So the next morning, they all wake up at 6am and they all go through the Flat Train, before 6:05am.

Since last week, a lot has happened. This week I am doing the signpost contrast and contradictions. The character I picked to do this about is Thomas. Ever since Teresa went missing, Thomas has been acting weird. He has been quiet and doesn't really interact with everyone anymore. He also found out that him and Aris can speak telepathically. I think that since he found this out, that he felt like he lost Teresa forever and is becoming more distant from the other Gladers. Another person who is acting weirdly, is Newt. Ever since he found out that his tattoo said he was the glue and that Minho was the leader, he acts like he isn't fit out to be the leader. Before this, Newt was the one who always called the shots, and became the leader type. But ever since he say Minho's tattoo, he kept convincing Minho that Minho was the leader instead of himself. After a lot of convincing, Minho finally said ok on being the leader. Then after that, Newt started acting, distant, and would really just stay in the background when Minho would give a 'pep' talk.

Another Week of Scorch Trials

Like I said last week, I am reading the Scorch Trials by James Dashner. The Scorch Trials are a sequel to the Maze Runner. Since last time, They met a kid named Aris. He was stuck in the Maze, but instead of a bunch of boys and one girl, there was a bunch of girls and one boy. While they were talking Thomas saw a tattoo on Aris. It said something about being in Group B subject 1. He was called 'the Partner' All the Gladers had it too, but theres were Group A. There was the leader (Minho), the glue (Newt), and Thomas' said he was supposed to be killed by Group B.

I picked the signpost tough questions. I picked tough questions because Thomas and the Gladers were brought with a very tough question. Whether to trust Aris or not. They just met Aris, but no one is sure if they can trust him just yet. When him and Thomas were talking, Aris admitted that he could speak telepathy with his friend, in the other maze. Thomas later found out that Aris' best friend, the girl he could talk with, was killed. I think that even though, him and Thomas had a very heart to heart conversation, Thomas and the Gladers are still trying to find out if they can trust Aris or not.

Scorch Trials

Scorch Trials is the sequel to the Maze Runner and written by James Dashner. I just recently started to read this book. The story starts off, with Thomas and the other Gladers in a room. They all seem to be asleep, when suddenly, Thomas wakes up, due to Teresa talking with him through their minds. They are talking just fine, when Teresa yells for Thomas' help. But Thomas is in to deep of a sleep and when he finally wakes up, he cant hear Teresa anymore. When he wakes up, he finds the other Gladers, looking very scared. He looks at the windows and sees these people with flesh hanging off their skin. They call themselves cranks and tell the Gladers to kill them.

For my second paragraph, I decided to do a character analysis of Thomas. Thomas is nice and sweet, but he is also very smart. He came up with a way to get out of the maze and they did. Thomas is really brave. Like in the first book, Thomas went into the maze without permission. Then in this book, he was really determined to find Teresa. Thomas and Teresa have a very special connection. Not only do they know how to talk to each other, through their minds, but they have amazing chemistry. I mean, they really get to know each other, and later you can see/read that they really hit it off. So far, I really like this book.

My Quarter Goals

One academic goal that I have for this quarter is to get straight A's. I will achieve it by spending more time and work into doing my homework and to study for tests and assessments. I want to achieve this goal because my grades have been a little low lately and I want to raise it so that have something to be proud of. I really like having good grades. Everybody does. I just think that having good grades can lead me too a good college. Wouldn't that be the real success?

I think one personal goal, that I definitely have is to focus on finding books that I can really get into. I recently abandoned the book, 'Lovely Bones' I am going to start 'Scorch Trials' which is the sequel to 'Maze Runner' I really want to find books that I can read and not get bored. And thats very hard, because I have a short attention span. I will achieve this by finding books that are not only recommended to me but that appeals to me. I want to achieve this because I can barely find books that appeal to me. Last year I abandoned a lot of books and I am trying extra hard to find books that I can read and doesn't bore me.

Lovely Bones- Winter Break Blog

As I was reading, I kind of got bored. I think that it was good at the beginning but as the story went on, it got a little boring. What happened was that, Susie was looking down, from heaven, viewing her family. Her family has a had to deal with her death and it was hard, from the way Susie described it. Like her dad, destroyed bottled ships that him and Susie made together. Bottled ships are wooden ships in glass bottles. He also went into her room and started to cry. At the end him and Susie's little brother had a moment and I think that Susie's dad will handle the death more easily.

I decided on doing a signpost. So in this sign post I noticed a Memory Moments. When Susie was looking down, she remembered her 11th birthday and when everyone was sleeping. She went out and looked at her present. It was a camera. She took that camera and stalked a girl that was walking by her house. So when she went around back she saw her mother. She forgot about the girl. She explained that she has never seen her mother, just sit still. It was unusual to her. Then she talked about the kind of relationship her and her father had.

Lovely Bones- Winter Break Blog

When I read chapter 3 of 'Lovely Bones' its basically talked about how, on Susie's way up to heaven, she passed this girl named Ruth. Susie and Ruth went to school together yet were never close. Ruth had this dream about how Susie was running toward Ruth in the schools parking lot. But Ruth didn't know it was Susie. She was a ghost. Ruth described it as: "It was a female, I could sense that. It flew up out of the field. Its eyes were hollow. It had a thin white veil over its body, as light as cheesecloth. I could see its face through it, the features coming up through it. the nose, the eyes, the face, the hair"

There was a lot of conflict in this chapter. Like how later on, Ruth saw 2 of Susie's friend, and then how she smoked a cigarette. She was saying how, when someone dies, and their souls are going up to heaven, they touch someone. It could be just a light, gentle poke, but apparently we feel it. Like how someone says that they feel a chill, its actually a soul touching you. I think that the book it amazing so far. It really made me care for the characters, even though they are not real.
